Liverpool's Brazilian attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho has been in sparking form of late, scoring crucial (and bloody spectacular) goals against Southampton and Man City, which has prompted manager Brendan Rodgers to sing his praises in a recent interview with the club's official website.
One thing that Rodgers said in that interview was particularly interesting:
What he gives to the team, he offers that gold dust to how we play, he’s a wonderful player. If you see his videos on YouTube, playing futsal when he was 11 or 12 in Brazil, he’s playing the same game now only as an adult.
So we decided to check it out, and sure enough, Brendan was spot on. There are seveal videos of Philippe Coutinho playing futsal at a young age, and what is remarkable is how immediately recognisable his skills that he uses in the Premier League every week are, even way back then.
See for yourself:
Liverpool fans will be hoping he can continue his form into the back end of the season as the race for the top four looks set to be closer than ever.
