We are capable of getting awfully sentimental about old football boots here at Balls.ie, and that won't change anytime soon. While we were happy to see the re-make of the old Adidas Predators, they were limited edition and cost €300, so yeah.
Whether you had a pair as a kid back in the day, or simply admired them on television, these 7 pairs of football boots are the type of boots we are crying out for anytime we head to the shops in need of a new pair.
The options today are wide, and plentiful, but they don't have that extra special something that each of these pairs to. Ok, granted that thing is nostalgia, but still...
Here are 7 old football boots we desperately wish were still available in shops.
Adidas Predator Accelerator
The Predator Accelerators were probably the first time Adidas were able to combine the usefulness of the Predator features and a design that actually looked good. These boots were glorious. Zinedine Zidane in Euro 2000 glorious.
Nike Mercurial Vapor
The boots Robbie wore in the 2002 World Cup were the original Nike Mercurial Vapor and they were just brilliant. The first ridiculously light-weight boot that became popular, they had a really simple design that ensured you wouldn't be embarrassed to wear them, unlike some of the latest models.
The "Roy Keane" Diadoras
Iconic. They were essentially Copa Mundial knockdowns, but that's hardly a bad thing. Keano rocked these bad boys throughout his carrer, and just looking at them brings back memories of his performances against Portugal and Holland that pretty much dragged us to the 2002 World Cup.
Nike Air Zoom Total 90 II
So nice, and unbelievably comfortable to wear, these boots were absolutely everywhere in the Premier League in 2003. The White/Black colourway was probably the nicest, but all of them looked great. Bring them back Nike!
Adidas F50 Spider
Some of the early Adidas f50s were absolutely fantastic, but the pinnacle was the f50 spiders that were worn by the likes of Arjen Robben at Chelsea, and Alessandro Del Piero.
Nike Tiempo Legend Ronaldinho
Remember these? They were the focus of what was probably the first video you watched on YouTube:
Adidas Predator Mania
You should know by now how much we are madly in love with the Adidas Predator Mania, and if you're not, then enjoy our 11 reasons why the 2002 Adidas Predator Mania was the best football boot ever made.
Adidas, Nike... and Diadora (if you're still a company), just shut up and take our money.
