A 19-year-old in northern England thought he had won £1m from a 14 team, £1 accumulator only to see it all fall through because he filled out the wrong form.

Jordan Donnellan went out on the town Sunday night to celebrate his win, with his mother even buying a giant round of shots for everyone. However, when he went into the Ladbrokes shop on Monday to collect his winnings it emerged that he had filled out a Weekend Result Rush slip instead of a Weekend Quickslip.

A rush slip is used for both teams to score predictions.

Initially Donnellan was congratulated by staff but when they rang the area manager about the bet, it all began to unravel. Donnellan told the Northern Echo:

The woman was looking at the scores and ticked them off. She looked up and smiled and said ''I think you might have won, do you want a hug?''.

She had to ring her are manager because they did not have that sort of cash.

Donnellan returned a few hours later, only to be informed by a friend that his bet was fecked: 'I didn’t want to believe it. I said ‘are you joking?’ But he had been in talking to the woman. When I went in she said ''we have a little problem''.'
