The Sun have an interview with Paul Gascoigne today and in it the former Spurs and England player reveals that Arsenal have been generous to him in the past.
The club have contributed a total of £50,000 towards his medical care, including £28,000 towards his hospitalisation when he contracted pneumonia (possibly back in 2004) and a further £22,000 for hip surgery.
Here's what Gazza told The Sun:
I rang up their physio Gary Lewin and told him I wasn’t feeling great.
He said to go to hospital as he feared it was pneumonia. Wenger then agreed to arrange £28,000 to pay for treatment.
Arsenal also paid £22,000 when I had hip treatment.
Gascoigne would've known Gary Lewin as part of the England setup in the late 90s.
