Former Irish International Liam Miller has broken his silence about his sudden departure from Australian A-League side Brisbane Roar last month. The 33 year old Miller left the A League Champions by mutual consent after newspapers reported that Miller refused to play in a youth league match. A statement from the Queensland outfit later announced his departure, while failing to give reasons for his exit so soon into the new Australian season.
The former Celtic and Man United player has now broken his silence on the matter, citing the "unprofessional and disrespectful" behaviour of manager Mike Mulvey for his reasons of wanting to leave the club.
I played the first game of the season (against Adelaide United 1-2) and the manager then dropped me for the second game and the third game. In those two weeks he didn’t come to me with any explanation as to why I was dropped which I found unprofessional and disrespectful and when I asked him he couldn’t give me a valid reason, claims made by him now that I had an ongoing calf problem are completely false.
After the Sydney game the following morning I met him at the pool recovery. I told him straight I wanted my contract terminated immediately. I told him there and then I had played my last game under him. He said “I take it your not going to play the youth game then” and I said “No”.
Miller has said he doesn't know where his future lies, stating "At the moment I’ve kept my options open".
