It's January 1st, you know what that means..
If you were playing Football Manager, it's the day you play the game for! But also in real life it can be quite interesting as thousands of footballers enter the final six months of their contracts and are free to discuss bosman transfers to new clubs.
There are a lot of high-profile teams that need to add to their squads, and thankfully for them, there are some seriously talented players available. Of course, one or all of these guys could go on to sign a contract extension with their current clubs, but as of now here are some big players that are currently watching time wind down on their current deals.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Yes, Zlatan can be contacted with a view to a free transfer in the summer.
What will likely happen is that a flood of offers will come in for him, but the big Swede will take his time and carefully pick his next destination if he is done having a laugh with the rest of Ligue 1.
Joel Matip
Cameroonian international defender Matip would be a very sensible addition for any side in need of a ball playing centre back.
With Champions League experience, bags of talent, and at only 24 years of age, a number of big clubs will likely be in for him.
Samir Handanovic
Now considered by many to be the best keeper in Serie A, Inter Milan will not want to let Handanovic leave, but he will surely have plenty of options.
Many clubs, including Liverpool, will be looking for a new keeper in the summer, and there will not be anyone better available than the Slovenian stopper.
Sofiane Feghouli
An extremely gifted player, and an international teammate of Riyad Mahrez, fans of La Liga will know all about Sofiane Feghouli, and as such will know that countless clubs will be making an enquiry.
Can Gary Neville keep a hold of him? A cash transfer this January window is also a serious possibility.
Branislav Ivanovic
Not enjoying a great campaign for Chelsea at the moment, but there's no doubting that Ivanovic is a very solid player who will attract interest from clubs all over the continent.
With Hiddink in temporary charge it is likely that contract discussions will be put on hold until the summer, so another club may try to steal him away from Stamford Bridge.
Ever Banega
Both Milan clubs have been heavily linked with Banega in recent weeks, as the Argentina international is as fine a passer of a ball as you will see.
Likely to leave Sevilla, someone is going to get a real bargain if they can wait six months.
Charlie Austin
He's proven that he can score goals in the Premier League, so surely it's time for Charlie Austin to return to the top-flight.
It seems crazy to think that QPR would allow him to leave on a free having rejected bids of up to £15m during the summer, so perhaps a January move is on the cards.
Ezequiel Lavezzi
There's no doubting his talent, but the issue is whether or not a potential new manager can keep him focused on football.
His time at PSG is almost certainly over, it's just a case of cash for a deal now, or waiting until the summer to try and nab him for free.
Nicolas N'Koulou
A commanding presence at the back for Marseille in recent seasons, while the club is currently enduring a tough time in Ligue 1 it may be result in N'Koulou looking for a new adventure.
Again, clubs in need of a centre back could do a lot worse.
Gregory Van Der Wiel
An exiting full back who loves to get forward, Van Der Wiel has never really made the right-back position his own at PSG.
Will no doubt attract interest from a whole host of big clubs, the Dutchman would be a fantastic signing with no transfer fee involved.
