Earlier today we shared the FIFPro World XI selections, a list 55 of the very best players in football over the last year from which an XI will be selected just in case Earth needs to compete in an inter-galactic football tournament.
At least that's the best argument for it's existence.
In reality it's just to flesh out the Ballon D'Or ceremony, but we've looked at the players listed, and some of the selections are baffling. Also baffling, are a number of omissions, so we have brought you the amendments we felt necessary in the form of five players who shouldn't be on the list, and five who should.
Players who should not be on the shortlist:
Wayne Rooney
He has been in good form for England, granted, but Wayne Rooney has been so far from a World XI in the past 12 months that his inclusion is bizarre.
Rooney is still an important player for Man United, no question, but one of the best strikers in the world he is not.
Mats Hummels
Really?
Hummels had a disaster of a campaign last season, and so far this year he is leading the Bundesliga in mistakes that have resulted in goals. Why was he even considered?
Iker Casillas
Dropped and shoved out the door by Real Madrid, lost his Spain place to David De Gea, and having an inconsistent time with Porto, there is no reason that Casillas should feature.
David Luiz
Come on now.
While he definitely has his positives, nobody could really argue that David Luis is among the best defenders in the game and keep a straight face.
Yaya Toure
Puzzling.
Toure had a very poor start to 2015 and looked to be on the way out of Man City, he stayed, and performances didn't improve. Only in the past few weeks has Yaya shown a glimpse of his past form.
Players who should be on the shortlist:
Antoine Griezmann
REALLY?
Griezemann scored 22 La Liga goals last season for Atletico, and has matured into one of the finest attackers around.
Felipe Anderson
Such an exciting player to watch, Anderson lit up Serie A for Lazio last season at just 22 years of age. One for the future, but one of the best in Europe last year.
Blaise Matuidi
As good an all-round midfielder as you will see in the game today, an anti-PSG agenda certainly isn't the reason he was left off the list anyway.
Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang
Aubameyang had a slow start to the year but improved as Dortmund moved their way up the table, but his form since the season began has been incredible. He currently leads Robert Lewandowski at the top of the Bundesliga goal charts.
Nicolas Otamendi
While he has been up and down for City so far, Otamendi was an absolute rock for Valencia last season. Leadership, tackles, goals.. There's a reason City shelled out so much for him.
