It seems like every single transfer window Manchester United are linked to more players than anyone else, and countless "experts" claim deals are on the verge of completion, only for it to later emerge that the deal was never even discussed.
United fans can look forward to yet another off-season of rumours surrounding the likes of David De Gea, Mats Hummels, Ilkay Gundogan, and of course, Gareth Bale.
In fact, the Bale rumours are already out in force, and a journalist by the name of John Richardson who writes for The Daily Express has made a huge claim on a potential switch to United while appearing on MUTV:
I know somebody very close to Gareth Bale. I think [Bale to United] is almost a done deal to be honest.
While it seems clear to everyone who has watched a Real Madrid game recently that Bale isn't exactly comfortable at the club, the word from Carlo Ancelotti and Bale's agent remains that the Welshman will not be sold.
Manchester United have also recently secured the signing of promising Dutch winger Memphis Depay, and were Bale to arrive then you would have to wonder where Angel Di Maria factors in to Louis Van Gaal's long-term plans.
So what do you think? Do Richardson's sources make a Gareth Bale move to Old Trafford seem plausible? Or is he talking out of his arse?
That old chestnut of "sources close to the player" would suggest it is the latter.
