With the current Oldham Athletic manager nearing the exit door at Boundary Park, the League One club could be set to offer Paul Scholes his first job as a manager.
Lee Johnston is currently in charge of Oldham, but it is believed that he will leave for League One rivals Barnsley in the coming days, and Oldham are hoping that the friendship between Scholes and Oldham chairman Simon Chorney could lead to the former Manchester United midfielder taking charge of the first-team.
Scholes has not yet made clear his intentions regarding management, but he has made clear his fondness of Oldham Athletic on numerous occasions, often describing them as the only club other than Manchester United that he could have played for.
While a formal offer has not yet been made, it is believed that Oldham have Scholes high on their list of potential candidates.
We've seen Paul Scholes in the dugout of Salford City FC, the club which he co-owns, but could we really be about to see Scholsey on the touchlines in League One? Only time will tell.
