Peter Wright delivered the upset of the season in the Ally Pally on Sunday night when he knocked reigning world champion Luke Humphries out of the 2025 World Darts Championship in emphatic fashion.
Humphries, who beat teenage sensation Luke Littler in last year's showpiece was one of the heavy favourites to reign supreme again this year after a fantastic season in front of the board.
However, two-time World Champion Peter Wright had something to say about that on Sunday night when he rolled back the years and dispatched of Humphries 4-1 after an enthralling encounter, recording over 70% on his doubles.
The last 16 clash started as a tense affair with both men taking a set a piece, however, as the game hit the midway point and Wright's two-dart 96 finish saw him stride 2-1 ahead there was no way back for the reigning World Champion who fell in both of the following sets.
Old Humphries and Smith video comes back to bite
While Wright, who so far has enjoyed a rather tumultuous season, is well known for being one of the game's greatest wind-up merchants, the Scotsman spoke very highly of Luke Humphries after.
Yet, despite Wright's nice words, nothing could stop this sensational clip of Luke Humphries and Michael Smith taking a pop at Peter Wright going viral again.
The clip, which sees Smith and Humphries joking that Wright isn't 'good enough' shows just how much the lads enjoy beating Wright, although after Sunday's result, it'll be Wright enjoying the last laugh.
Exactly 6 months on from this infamous interview
Michael Smith is out at the first hurdle of the world championship and Wright just took out the reigning champion Humphries with a 100+ average.

'Snakebite' Wright, who is only known all too well for his ability to wind up darters and get under their skins had apparently asked Humphries "How’s your shoulders, Luke?” during last Summer's World Cup, implying that he was carrying the England team.
The comments, which infuriated Humphries' teammate Michael Smith eventually bounced back in Wright's face, with himself and the Flying Scotsman Gary Anderson succumbing to a loss at the hands of their bitter rivals.
However, it now seems that it'll be Wright who has the last laugh, with Humphries eliminated, Smith Eliminated and Peter Wright sailing firmly into the quarter-finals with little to no resistance.
In fairness to Wright, for all his bold predictions and inflammatory comments, he was nothing if not gracious in victory, claiming Humphries was his inspiration to keep playing.
I felt more confident playing Luke over this shorter distance.
If I didn’t beat him in this round, I believe he would have retained his title, because I don’t think any other player would have got close to Luke over a longer distance.
Luke [Humphries] and Luke [Littler] inspire me to carry on playing darts, and I know I can still play this game.
