Gerwyn Price made a huge statement as he secured a 4-0 whitewash victory over Raymond Van Barneveld in the PDC World Darts Championship.
The 2021 world champion was clinical as he secured a whitewash victory over fan favourite Van Barneveld.
Despite the boo's from the crowd, Gerwyn Price was thrilled to finally get a victory on live television.
I can say I beat Raymond on live television, come on! In the Grand Slam I let Raymond off numerous times, but today I was clinical.
One leg I let him off and he wins it and then the crowd are back with Raymond so it is really tough but come on! I'm here to win, I'm not here to make up the numbers.
Gerwyn Price showed why he is the world number one and favourite for the tournament with today's victory. Van Barneveld had his moments but was no match for Gerwyn Price as he marched on to the last 16.
The first two sets were tight, with both players having their moments, but Price was clinical at vital moments to take control of the game.
The emotion on Price's face was clear to see as he clinched the first set with a triple 20 and double five finish.

Despite always trailing and throwing to save the game, Van Barneveld provided plenty of moments of magic to entertain the crowd, with an effortless 125 in the third set.

However, it was Price who clinched the set 3-1 to upset the crowd and move one set away from victory with a brilliant 128 finish. Barney gave himself and the crowd hope when he started the set with a brilliant 147 finish.
However, just as he produced a great moment, it would be Gerwyn Price who would once again show his quality in response, which proved to be the story of the game as he sealed it with a 128 finish.
