Last year Martyn Irvine became the first Irishman in well over 100 years to win a medal at Track Cycling's World Championships. In the early hours of this morning he won silver in the Scratch race, the race in which he won gold last year.

Irvine's 19 year old team mate Ryan Mullen came close to adding to Ireland's medal haul when he finished 4th in the Individual Pursuit but at his age he has plenty of time to win medals.
