Colombian Nairo Quintana's chances of a Grand Tour double this year pretty much ended yesterday when during the stage 10 time trial of the Vuelta a Espana he hit a barrier and went over his handlebars.

He has gone from leading the Vuelta going into the stage to now being 11th, 3:25 behind leader Alberto Contador.

Here's what a very honest Quintana had to say:

I am fucked. The bike didn’t brake.

I felt good on the climb, but my bike wasn’t braking properly on the descent,

Before the curve, I was tightening my shoe a bit, because it was loose, but I don’t think it had anything to do with the crash. What happened is that it took too long to brake, and it wasn’t enough, and I went to the ground.

Our own Dan Martin is in 13th, 3:48 behind the leader.
