The Giro D'Italia has been pretty eventful this year: Stage Four was given a bizarre postscript as Javier Moreno was disqualified for shoving a rival cyclist into the crowd, while the following stage witnessed Luka Pibernik blow certain victory by celebrating too early.
Now, more madness: many of the Team Sky riders have been taken out of the race by a police motorbike, which nudged into traffic without looking.
The incident occured about 12km from the finish this afternoon.
Geraint Thomas was among the riders taken out, and looks set to lay waste to any ambitions Sky were harboring about winning the competition. Watch it below:

Thomas was able to continue, but has fallen 2' 46" behind the peloton.
