It takes a lot to get my father excited these days so congrats to @martyn_irvine , the "new King of Irish Cycling." Praise indeed.

Irvine's medals were only the 4th and 5th medals won by Irish cyclists in track cycling, after Harry Reynolds with 2 in the 1890s and Caroline Ryan last year. Irvine is the 3rd Irish man to win the UCI's rainbow jersey after Mark Scanlon (Junior 1998) and, of course, Stephen Roche (elite 1987) in the Road Race World Championships.
