There was an enormous crash today during the Strade Bianche cycling race in Tuscany, Italy. The race is part of the UCI World Tour of road cycling.
The crash happened among the peloton with world champions Julian Alaphilippe one of the ones affected by it.
Fortunately the world champion was able to dust himself off and regain his place in the peloton.
There were incredibly strong gusts of wind as the cyclists made their way through rough terrain. Such was the strength of the wind that some struggled to get back on their bikes.
The video below shows the scale of the crash with multiple riders falling off bikes.

The second clip gives a closer look at what caused the accident. It appears that the rough and narrow track was possibly more at fault than the wind, as the slightest touch between two riders set off a massive chain reaction.

Alaphilippe is the cyclist who does a front flip in the video above, and is incredibly lucky not to have injured himself.
Below you can see him thanking fellow cyclist Honoré for assisting him.
After witnessing this accident we could not help but be reminded of the fan caused crashed from last year's Tour de France.
The race was won by Slovenian Tadej Pogacar.
A league of his own 🇸🇮🐐
