Chris Froome and Team Sky received a frosty welcome when presented at a pre-Tour de France ceremony on Thursday evening. Plagued by suspicions regarding his misuse of asthma-related medicine, the four-time tour winner suffered a start to this morning's Tour that will have undoubtedly pleased many of those fans who had booed Froome and Team Sky earlier this week.
The opening stage of this year's Tour de France, Froome found himself forced off the road only 5 km shy of the finishing line. Recovering sufficiently to finish one minute behind the Colombian winner, Fernando Gaviria, Froome ended up in the wrong position of a chaotic finish to a largely sedate first stage.
