Australian opener Cameron Bancroft is at the centre of the latest controversy during the Newland tests after appearing to tamper with the ball with a foreign object before appearing to place the object in his trousers.
Fielding against South Africa, Bancroft seemed to run his hands over the ball. As the umpires met to discuss the incident Bancroft removed the object from his pocket and seemed to place it in his trousers. When questioned he showed a sunglasses case as the only object in his pocket.

Graeme Smith, a former South Africa captain felt malpractice had occurred.
