After Ireland's impressive showing in the World Cup, the ICC has been quick to heap praise on the team, using St. Patrick's day to publish a celebratory article on the teams exploits. Indeed they have been quick to praise the associate nations for much of the tournament to date.
All this is a bit contradictory however, as the ICC wish to limit associate teams access to the competition, cutting numbers from 14 down to 10 for the next edition. This was not lost on Irish Captain William Porterfield, when the ICC tweeted the previously mentioned article to him, he replied with a pertinent dig at the ICC.
. @ICC so memorable and inspiring that you have decided to cut the next WC to 10 teams. What is your vision for the game of cricket?

The ICC have previously tried to limit World Cups, only for an ensuing backlash to see them stop. Let's hope the same happens this time.
