Irish sports fans must have a very skewed notion of how top level one day cricket works. To most of us fair weather fans, it's a case of seeing the opposition go off and set a seemingly unbeatable total before seeing Ireland grab the bat and knock out runs to beat the band.
Many have suggested that the Windies faltering reputation in international cricket means that Ireland's win is not that much of a surprise but that's not really the case, particularly when the manner of the victory is taken into context.
This just sums it up:
There have now been five successful run chases of over 300 in cricket World Cup history. Three of them by Ireland.

Just like it was against England in Bangalore four years ago, it was a case of giving the West Indies a bit of slack before reeling them in. ESPN Cricinfo have laid out the wins and it makes for impressive reading.
