The Zimbabwean public were outraged over Robson Sharuko's vile article about Ireland cricketer John Mooney. Sharuko questioned Mooney's character in a piece titled 'Alcoholic Dumps Zim Out Of WC'.
Mooney made a vital catch which prevented a six for Zimbabwe and got Ireland a wicket at a crucial moment in the game. It was a controversial moment though as Mooney made the catch so close to the boundary, coming extremely close to touching it. Replays were inconclusive and Mooney said that he had not made contact.
After the match Zimbabwean captain Brendan Taylor said that you've just got to take the fielder's word.
You've got to take his [Mooney's] word for it. It looked pretty clear, but you take the fielder's word and the game moved forward.
Taylor stepped up again today. He apologised for Sharuko's article, on behalf of the Zimbabwe team, via Twitter.
On behalf of the Zimbabwe cricket team.We just want to express our apologies to @Irelandcricket and John Mooney for the unacceptable article
