A new UTV Ireland documentary series entitled Emigration Nation will profile Billy Walsh's start to life in America when it kicks off tomorrow night (7:30).
The first episode features Walsh along with his fellow Wexford man, Ireland striker Kevin Doyle, who live less than an hour away from each other in Colorado.
The trailer shows Walsh reliving his conversation with the IABA about staying on as Head Coach of Irish boxing's High Performance Unit, where he reportedly asked the organisation not to match his offer from America, but rather for a contract that fairly represented his work relative to his counterparts in other, less successful sports.
It also reveals that Walsh had an early falling out with current star pupil Claressa Shields - now a two-time Olympic gold medallist at the grand old age of 21 - regarding the training environment in US boxing's Colorado Springs facility.
Walsh's decision to abolish music during training left Shields aghast to the point that, according to Walsh, she almost left camp. Shields can be seen telling the camera: "I kind of was like, send him back to Ireland!"
It promises to be a hugely insightful watch, and don't forget they'll be catching up with Rapids striker Kevin Doyle, too. Check out the trailer below.
