It was a third defeat in nine professional fights for three-time Irish Olympian Paddy Barnes last night as Jay Harris floored the 32-year-old in the fourth round of their contest at Ulster Hall.
The Welshman secured a deserved victory thanks to a vicious left hook that saw referee Phil Edwards count his opponent out. It ensured he left Belfast with the IBF Inter-Continental flyweight belt.

It is a result that has left the Irish boxer considering his future.
It was a night of highs and lows for Irish boxing. 13-time Irish underage champion Paddy Donovan landed a devastating first-round KO win on his debut against Arturo Lopez with a showing that will have no doubt pleased coach Andy Lee. The 20-year old is promoted by Bob Arum’s Top Rank and promises plenty in the near future.
