Watch: Matthew Macklin Puts Friendship Aside In Brave Analysis Of Golovkin And Brook

First up, you have to give credit to Kell Brook. Nobody - not Canelo Alvarez, not anybody - wanted a piece of 'Triple G' Gennady Golovkin. This left a vacuum in the middleweight division that Kell Brook is only too happy to fill.

The Brit takes his impressive 36-0 record up two whole weight classes to take on the Kazakh, who so frequently tops the pound-for-pound rankings. Most analysts aren't giving Brook anything other than a puncher's chance - and that includes a friend of Brook's (and former Golovkin opponent) Matthew Macklin.

Macklin lasted until just the third round against Golovkin before being knocked out and he predicts that Brook will struggle on Saturday.

I really do like Kell Brook and I've got so much respect for him for taking this fight. No one in the middleweight division wants to fight Golovkin and Kell Brook got offered it and jumped up two weight divisions. I couldn't have more respect for him for taking the fight. Having said that, I don't see how he wins the fight.

His best chance is early. You've got two major things that can sway a fight to your advantage or your disadvantage; if you're stronger or your're faster. We expect [Brook] to be the faster fighter, he's the welterweight. I want him to get out there and throw loads. Use his hand-speed because, after a while, Golovkin will start to time it. Hopefully if he can get him into a certain type of a fight, maybe bust him up, close his eyes, cut him - whatever. Then maybe he can get some success but it's going to be hard to keep [Golovkin] off him for twelve rounds.

There have been huge upsets in boxing before and, admittedly, it is strange to ascribe the role of underdog to someone who has build a 36-0 undefeated record in the ring. Upsets do happen in boxing, just ask Buster Douglas, but will we see something similar this weekend?

Macklin doesn't think so.

Listen, it's boxing. Strange things happen in boxing. I'll give you my honest opinion, I don't see how [Brook] beats him.
