Here's a small slice of inspiration to launch your Friday.
We all know that Katie Taylor has long been an incredible role model for aspiring sportswomen across the country. But a video uploaded to the internet this morning by FM104's Nobby and Jim Jim programme captured the real power of Katie.
Here's the send up - Nobby and Jim Jim had contacted Ava, a 14-year-old from Coolock and an aspiring professional boxer, to record a video message to Katie Taylor. Before we talk about the beautiful video, we need to talk about Ava, who herself is something of a legend in the making. Ava attends Larkin Community College, plays for the Dublin U-14 footballers and boxes for Ireland and the Dublin Docklands boxing club. Ava won a European Schoolgirls silver medal fighting for Ireland last year in Tblisi. She also ran a half marathon for youth mental health earlier this year, raising €6,000 in the process. She tells the lads her favourite boxers are Katie Taylor and Prince Naseem, which is a sign of true class.
With the help of Ava's mother, Jim Jim and Nobby had arranged for Ava to record a video message to Katie, discussing how the Bray boxer had inspired her own fledgling career.
What Ava didn't know was Katie would be watching the message recording live on a remote video link. The shock and emotion on Ava's face when Katie appears on screen is incredible.
Ava's message - "I want to be like Katie, only better" - is pretty amazing and Katie has some valuable advice of her own. "Never cut any corners. Always turn up for training," she says.
It's a wonderful video and we wish Ava the best of luck in her sporting career.
