With such an overwhelming reaction to the disgraceful decision that robbed Irish boxer Michael Conlan of his Olympic dream in Rio, RTÉ invited the CEO of the Irish Amateur Boxing Association Fergal Carruth into the studio for a one on one interview with Darragh Maloney.
The IABA last night submitted a request to investigate the results of the fight, and while speaking to Maloney live on RTÉ Carruth revealed that the judges who scored the fight had been sent home.
IABA chief executive Fergal Carruth says the removal of Rio judges will be of little consolation to Michael Conlan https://t.co/ea4Z6qSjqh

However, at this point it has not been confrimed elsewhere, and Aidan O'Hara of the Irish Independet brought a tweet to our attention that suggests the officials are set to be involved further in the games.
Did Fergal Carruth just say that the judges in the Conlan fight have been stood down? Not according to this https://t.co/EfDYjxvB21

And the Brazilian who scored for Nikitin is refereeing. So two of the three judges who went for Nikitin are NOT among those sent home.

Carruth then commented on the weight issues of Paddy Barnes which are responsible for his underperformance in the ring in Rio:
Fergal Carruth says Paddy Barnes' weight struggles were 'the worst kept secret in Ireland' https://t.co/823KoVaCn8

The interview was not well received, with many viewers unhappy with the dodging of Darragh Maloney's questions, and many even took to twitter to call for Fergal Carruth's resignation.
@RuthCoppingerTD All you have to do is look at the history of @FergalCarruth as IABA CEO questions deflected and unanswered on #rterio2016
