Tyson Fury has confirmed his return to the ring, and will fight at the Manchester Arena on June 9th. His opponent has yet to be announced. Fury hasn't fought since shocking Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015, although has had an eventful spell away from the ring. In June 2016, he tested positive for a banned substance taken before the Klitschko fight. Although Fury said that he "never knowingly or deliberately committed a violation", he accepted a backdated two-year ban. During this ban, Fury struggled with depression, fell into recreational drug use and ballooned in weight.
He also made a number of offensive and highly controversial comments in the media, which included a homophobic rant for which he apologised - "There are only three things that need to be accomplished before the devil comes home: one of them is homosexuality being legal in countries, one of them is abortion and the other one's paedophilia" -, a disturbing exposition on bestiality - "I think it’ll be perfectly normal in the next 10 years to have sexual relationships with your animals at home, you know your pets your cats and dogs and all that. So that will be legal" - and anti-Semitic comments made in a YouTube interview.
Fury was asked about all of these controversies by ITV yesterday, and refused to answer any of them, responding with no comment before announcing that he was "terminating" the interview.
