Tyson Fury hasn't fought since defeating Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015, but he has today announced that he will return to the ring on June 9th.
Fury will fight at the Manchester Arena, although his opponent has yet to be announced.
He has linked up with Frank Warren for this fight, and tickets will be available once the identity of his opponent is confirmed.
A lot has happened to Fury since he last fought. Against Klitschko, he won the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles but in June 2016, he tested positive for a banned substance taken before that fight.
Although Fury said that he "never knowingly or deliberately committed a violation", he accepted a backdated two-year ban. During this ban, Fury struggled with depression, fell into recreational drug use and ballooned in weight.
He has returned to training now, however, and is believed to have shed seven stone while training at Ricky Hatton's gym.
The Independent report that American Shannon ‘The Cannon’ Briggs is thought to be at the front of the queue of Fury's potential opponents. The ultimate ambition is a showdown with Anthony Joshua, which could take place in 2019 as Fury's camp acknowledges his need to get a couple of fights under his belt before facing the world champion.
