Tyson Fury last fought in Dublin in 2009 when he beat Tomas Mrazek handily in a six round bout in the O2.
Now he wishes to hold the first defence of his heavyweight title in Dublin.
Notwithstanding his recent showbiz declaration that he was ready to fight Deontay Wilder 'any time, any place, anywhere' - a message he delivered to Wilder's face - Fury is contractually obliged to give Wladimir Klitschko a rematch.
And this could be taking place at the Aviva Stadium on 4 June. The Evening Herald report that Fury is lining up the stadium as the venue for the rematch.
Fury considers himself to be Ireland's first heavyweight world champion and is a former Irish heavyweight champion.
He has previously expressed a desire to fight in Croke Park or Old Trafford.
Muhammad Ali fought Al 'Blue' Lewis in Croke Park in 1972 but that was not a title fight, Ali having lost to Joe Frazier the previous year.
Other venues remain on the table. Wembley Stadium and a return to Germany are still strong possibilities. However, the Arab sheikh who wished to host the fight for the benefit of 120 spectators each paying $1 million has seen his dream wither and die.
