Sometimes, sporting contests are better when David isn't invited.
Last night gave us a heavyweight clash for the ages, as Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko slugged it out across eleven extraordinary rounds. The fight was extraordinary, and it largely held momentum in easy contempt: a fifth round which began with Joshua flooring Klitschko ended with the former clinging on for the bell, utterly spent. Joshua then met canvas in the sixth, yet recovered to eventually finish Klitschko off in the penultimate round.
It was simply a great sporting event, with which a huge audience was utterly enthralled.
We've watched the final round back about a thousand times by this stage, and had assumed that it couldn't get much better. And then we stumbled across the American commentary of the fight from Showtime. The commentator's name is Mauro Ranallo, and flowered the madness of the final round with rhyming couplets which included "Joshua just smoked Klitschkoooo/Like a Monte Cristooo".
Enjoy the Showtime commentary below.
