Tyson Fury's rematch with Wladimir Kiltschko will take place in a venue that is as yet unknown. A number of potential venues have been floated.
Wembley Stadium, Abu Dhabi, and a return to Germany are all possibilities. The London Times has referred to Croke Park as a possible venue but this appears unlikely.
However, there was one proposal that wouldn't have looked out of place halfway through a Bond film.
For Fury disclosed that a yacht in Dubai had been mooted as an alternative venue, by the Sheikh who owned the yacht no less.
The residents of Billionaires Row wanted to keep the fight to themselves. Tickets would be competitively at $1 million, well out of range of the humble low level multi-millionaire. Fury himself had no objection to the plan, citing the more than $60 million he was getting for it.
There was a sheikh in Dubai who owned a yacht and said he could sell 120 tickets at $1 million (roughly €900,000) each. He wanted to have an exclusive world heavyweight championship fight with no TV, just those 120 people watching. He didn’t say how much I would get, but I’d probably have the bigger half of the $120 million, so I was all for it.
Sure, who knows, this may be where boxing is headed.
