Paddy Barnes will weigh in tomorrow for his WBO European title clash on home soil.
The Irish boxing icon trades leather with former world title challenger Silvio Olteanu of Romania at Belfast's Waterfront Hall on Saturday night, with a win securing Barnes a WBO ranking after just three professional contests.
Barnes recently appeared on our Irish Boxing Show, which can be listened to on iTunes and other podcast provders (simply search Balls.ie podcasts). It's also available at the bottom of this post.
Over 5,000 miles away, Barnes' old partner in crime Michael Conlan is fresh off his second consecutive TKO victory in the States, and enjoying a little downtime amidst preparation for his own third fight, on the undercard of Manny Pacquiao's WBO World light-welterweight title defence versus Jeff Horn in Brisbane, Australia on July 2nd.
Fully aware of the rigours of weight cuts and the foul mood it can inflict upon a fighter, Conlan opted to flip the script on Barnes - who had previously bombarded Conlan with pictures of food before his May 26th fight in Chicago - during an extremely delicate time for his former Irish teammate. Revenge, in this case, was a 'tin' of Coke served cold.
How you feeling @paddyb_ireland abit dry I bet, I'm sure it's gonna be a long night for you 😁 #CountingTheHoursToWeighIn #IceColdTinOfCoke 😍 pic.twitter.com/AZ2atwCj0B

A number of fighters swarmed to poor Barnes' defence, including Belfast banger Lewis 'The Croc' Crocker, who will weigh in just before Barnes tomorrow ahead of televised debut on the same Belfast card this Saturday.
I wish I didn't see this☹️😂

Barnes, of course, brought this upon himself last month, effectively plotting his own downfall ahead of Conlan's weigh-in in the Windy City.

The pair will, in all likelihood, fight on the same card on this isle in the winter. It should be serious craic.
