Fresh off the back of becoming Ireland's first male World Boxing champion, Michael Conlan has now been named as the number one amateur bantamweight in the world.
The Belfast fighter defeated Murodjon Akhmadaliev on October 14th in Doha. Conlan won the fight on points despite being knocked down by the Uzbekistan fighter with 30 seconds remaining in the contest.
The 23 year old has already won bronze in the 2012 Olympic games and will have his sights firmly set on gold in Rio. He becomes only the second Irish fighter to top the AIBA rankings after Joe Joe Nevin.
