Mick Conlan had been given a confirmed date and a venue for his highly anticipated pro debut, but it is now confirmed that he will headline the event to make what was shaping up to be a great night even more special.
As we expected, it's going to be in Madison Square Garden and it will fall on St.Patrick's day, setting up a seriously tasty weekend for Irish sports fans already, but the news that Conlan will headline the event is huge for Irish boxing.
Bob Arum confirmed to Ring TV that New York on March 17th is now set in stone, and he is anticipating a flood of Irish fans making the trip over:
Thousands of people are going to be flying in from Ireland to New York to watch it. It’s going to be an unbelievable event. I think Michael is going to be a major star in the order of a Barry McGuigan.
With the club All-Ireland finals and Ireland's Six Nations clash with England taking place that weekend, it's going to be a big one!

If you're interested in travelling over you would want to get booking nice and early as there many have already taken the plunge, but even watching from home it's something to put on the calendar and look forward to.
