Michael Conlan registered his second stoppage victory in as many professional fights with a TKO3 of Mexican Alfredo Chanez in Chicago.
Around 4,000-5,000 fans braved the horrendous Chi-city conditions to get to the UCI Pavillion, and the vast majority of them got what they came to see, although headliner Conlan was once more dissatisfied with his own performance.
He scored his first professional knockdown in the first round with a thunderous right uppercut, and though on wobbly legs, Chanez withstood a barrage against the ropes before Conlan eased up briefly - clearly making a conscious effort to remain patient given the early frustrations of his debut in New York back in March.
The 4-4 Chanez went down on a low blow from the Belfast man in the second, conspicuously attempting to get Conlan disqualified much to the annoyance of the referee, who after some respite for the Tijuana character, allowed the action to resume.
Chanez survived the second stanza but having taken some solid shots in the third, crumbled to the canvas after a body shot in the clinch from Conlan. Despite returning to his feet once more, the referee - perhaps sick of Chanez's shite, at this stage - waved the fight off, with Conlan shrugging his shoulders towards the crowd as if to suggest, 'look what I'm dealing with'.

Conlan would later grade his performance with an 'E' before changing his mind, and saying it was closer to the 'F' he gave himself in New York. It was a harsh assessment; a 'C' might have been fairer given some of his work in the first two rounds before the scrap descended to farce in the third, as Chanez did all he could to both survive and make the fight ugly.
In spite of his annoyance at his own performance, there was a rather wonderful moment as Conlan's hand was raised, with his young daughter Luisne celebrating her father's victory at centre-ring, fist aloft and indeed vaguely threatening.
Lovely moment as wee Luisne Conlan celebrates dad's win at centre-ring. That's why @mickconlan11 does what he does, right there. pic.twitter.com/3dgMiCoIRE

Next up for the former world amateur champion is Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia, where he'll face a step-up opponent on the undercard of Manny Pacquiao's WBO World light-welterweight title defence versus Jeff Horn.
