Yesterday, we featured one of the most remarkable tweets of the Olympics, as MP Heather Wheeler felt that Team GB's second-placed finish in the medals table at Rio 2016 wasn't good enough, so went about reassembling the British Empire:
Now that's what I call winning!!! Well done Team GB & all our Commonwealth friends, now for the Trade Agreements.... pic.twitter.com/Qg9qkYxWHp

In a post-Brexit EU, with the nation that once colonised the world leaving the EU as a result of a misplaced idea that they were in danger of being colonised themselves, it appears that they are trying to get the band back together.
James Joyce reckoned the sun never set on the British empire because God never trusted an Englishman in the dark, and it appears that dusk shall never fall upon the BBC's efforts to claim Irish sportspeople as British.
In 2015, they claimed Conor McGregor was the UK's first UFC champion:
They also claimed that Paul Dunne was British as he led last year's Open:
And now, they've claimed Michael Conlan as a Team GB boxer:
Conlan soon tweeted his reaction:
Awh jaysus!! #TeamIreland https://t.co/evRHEH5pUj

Who's the next Irishman they'll claim?
