Yesterday, we featured one of the most remarkable tweets of the Olympics, as MP Heather Wheeler felt that Team GB's second-placed finish in the medals table at Rio 2016 wasn't good enough, so went about reassembling the British Empire:

In a post-Brexit EU, with the nation that once colonised the world leaving the EU as a result of a misplaced idea that they were in danger of being colonised themselves, it appears that they are trying to get the band back together.

James Joyce reckoned the sun never set on the British empire because God never trusted an Englishman in the dark, and it appears that dusk shall never fall upon the BBC's efforts to claim Irish sportspeople as British.
