Another huge night in the professional boxing career of Katie Taylor has been scheduled for November 2 in Manchester. The women's lightweight champion of the world will headline a huge night of boxing at the Manchester Arena that will be broadcast on Sky Sports.
Taylor's opponent will be announced later today but Gavan Casey at the42.ie has previously reported that Taylor is set to step up to the light welterweight division to fight Greek fighter Christina Linardatou.
Linardatou is the WBO light weliterweight champion. While speaking to Irish boxing website Irishboxing.com last month, Linardatou's manager painted a prospective Taylor-Linardatou fight in the most epic terms.
“As a boxing fan I would be very excited for a fight like this. It’s very reminiscent of a Frazier and Ali or a Steve Collins versus Nigel Benn fight.”
Linardatou's sole blemish in an impressive career came against Delfine Persoon, the Belgian fighter Taylor went to war with at Madison Square Garden earlier in the year.
