Irish Olympic boxing champion and Sky Academy ambassador, Katie Taylor made a surprise visit to Ardscoil Mhuire in Ballinasloe, Co. Galway yesterday to present 14-year-old Stephanie O’Halloran with the Sky Sports Living for Sport Student of the Year award for the Republic of Ireland.

Katie surprised young Stephanie during a school quiz, and when the answer to one of the questions was 'Katie Taylor', the boxing champ appeared in the classroom, live on Sky Sports News, much to the shock of all present.

Ireland's London 2012 heroine also took time out to talk to Balls.ie, where she expressed her happiness at the recent successes of Ireland's sporting women following the Women's Six Nations championship win last weekend:

It's great to see, it's down to those individuals themselves as you wouldn't have heard about women's rugby a few years ago but what Fiona Coghlan and obviously the likes of Stephanie Roche have done for their sport has been phenomenal. You do need those individual people who are pioneers for their sport and breaking down those barries, and it's great to see women's sport on a high in the country.

And Taylor also revealed who she is backing in the fight that all boxing fans, including herself, have been waiting for, Mayweather vs Pacquiao:

I've said from the start I think Mayweather will be a bit too clever for [Pacquiao], but over the last few months I've been having my doubts as well as I've heard other people's opinions on the fight and I definitely think it will be closer than I initially thought, but I'm still edging towards Mayweather because of how fast he is. My heart says Pacquiao as I'd love to see him win it but I do think Mayweather will be too clever for him.

And congratulations to Stephanie O'Halloran as well.
