Katie Taylor may very well be one of Ireland's greatest ever sportspeople, breaking the mould for amateur female boxers worldwide, before breaking a host of records too long to list in the professional game.

While she's achieved nearly everything in the game, one wish has evaded her, playing in front of 82,300 fans in the fabled Croke Park. That could be about to change, however, according to Eddie Hearn.

Despite a number of previous failed attempts to stage Taylor fights at GAA HQ, Hearn who is the Wicklow boxer's promoter believes that striking a deal with the stadium is now more doable than ever.

Hearn explains why Croke Park is now more feasible for Katie Taylor

While the relatively high cost of doing business in Ireland stopped Hearn in his tracks the last time around, the promoter felt that the presence of Netflix, as well as the sheer magnitude of a Katie Taylor v Amanda Serrano bout would help get a deal over the line, admitting that there'd be a willingness to swallow more of the costs this time around.

My gut feeling is that Katie will fight Serrano again because I think the size of it… We’ve already had some very small talks with MVP (Serrano’s promoters) and stuff like that and I think Netflix would would want to run it back.

I really feel like, y’know, with the success of their second fight on Netflix, the audience, that story… I just think that fight now generates so much money that it might be easier to suffer some of the costs of Croke Park.

Like, Netflix like to build stories around stuff. I think the broadcaster may pay more because of the story and yeah, there’s just more money in the fight so, therefore, you might be more inclined to spend more on the fight.

In a sport where money rules all, it's tough to say whether the fight will really materialise or not until Taylor is getting ready to fight under the seats in the Hogan Stand.

While Hearn was honest in saying that Croke Park were never against the fight, he did reveal that the hallowed turf isn't the only place Taylor wants to grace before retirement, with the anthesis of Croke Park, Las Vegas' The Sphere also a potential venue for the Serrano rematch.

Croke Park have never been against it, I mean, I don’t think they’re queuing up to do a fight but they’ve never said to us, ‘We don’t want to do it,’ you know?

There’s two things she wants to do, Croke Park and Vegas, I think if we go to Vegas, we take it to The Sphere. Jim Dolan, who owns The Sphere and owns MSG — really, they want to bring the fight to Madison Square Garden again.

The owner witnessed that [first] fight and he’s already apparently really interested in doing it again, but he also owns The Sphere — the same group — so apparently, there’s interest from him to stage the rematch in The Sphere.

If Taylor Serrano does materialise for either Croke Park or The Sphere, it will be primed to be one of, if not the, biggest fight in professional female boxing history. The two have already clashed twice before in nailbiting affairs, with Taylor claiming victory by the skin of her teeth on both occasions.

While Ireland's pride and joy had went to great lengths to bring this fight to Croke Park in 2022, Hearn and Matchroom Boxing couldn't agree costs with Croke Park, Hearn not willing to pay nearly double the price Wembley were charging.

Katie has since fought twice in Dublin's 3 Arena, fighting both Serrano and Chantelle Cameron, like for so many Irish sportspeople, a sold-out Croke Park is always the pinnacle.

Taylor is also willing to fight Chantelle Cameron if the Serrano fight can't be moved forward, however a trilogy fight with the American is thought to be the most lucrative of the options - something which will be important if they're going to front the cost of renting Croke Park.
