Jason Quigley may not have won his massive bout with Edgar Berlanga on the 24th of June in Maddison Square Garden, but the Ballybofey native certainly made his presence on the international stage felt with a courageous and spirited 12 rounds of boxing. Now Quigley hopes that performance is the start of greater things to come.

Quigley who hails from Donegal, has lost just three of his twenty-three fights with fourteen of his wins coming by way of knockout. However, beating the unbeaten Berlanga seemed just a step too far.

Despite the loss, Quigley's performance was inspiring, he managed to claw himself back up off the canvas four times to push Berlanaga to the very last bell, with the Donegal man only losing by decision.

His performance, which was worlds away from his TKO loss to Demetrius Andrade in late 2021, proved that Quigley's name is not one to be disrespected, with Eddie Hearn and Berlanga singing his praises.

What's next for Jason Quigley?

Speaking to Balls.ie Quigley certainly wasn't letting the Berlanga loss define him, with the Donegal man convinced that he'd re-announced himself as a serious contender and put respect back on his name.

While Quigley was content to show the world just what he was capable of, the Donegal man was unwavering in his belief that the best is yet to come.

"As a fighter we get into the ring every time to to win and to get that Glory, but that didn't happen for me in this fight, but you know I came away from this fight with a lot of positives put a bit of respect and a mark back on my name again and showed showed the world what I'm capable of and how good I really am."
"I wanted to get in there I want to put a bit of respect back on my name. I wanted to show people you know how good I am and how good I can be I'm not finished yet, I'm not the finished article yet I don't believe that I have reached my full potential or my full Peak yet either."
"I think that I've I've made a few breakthroughs and doing that in the last couple of camps, in the last couple of training sessions and in the last fight as well.
With the Donegal star hopeful that his best is yet to come, he's adapted his ways with age, cutting out the post-fight partying for early morning gym sessions, with Quigley confident that his recent MSG performance will have the phone ringing very soon.
"I got back into Dublin on the Monday went straight back to Donegal and I was in the gym on the Wednesday again you know so I was just kind of back in the routine.... eating relatively healthy and just keeping myself in good shape because you know in boxing you just get a phone call at any stage now.
"I believe that after my performance in in Madison Square Garden... that the opportunities there now are very good and it won't be long till till we have news again."

With Quigley confident here's hoping we'll see him back in the ring sooner rather than later as he tries to cement his name in international boxing and add to his already impressive record. We could even see him in the ring again before the year is out, and with a big Matchroom card coming to Dublin for Taylor-Cameron 2 in late November, we might be seeing Quigley on Irish shores again this year.
