After the county's big-hitting hurlers brought Liam home to the Premier County on Sunday, Tipperary's heavyweight boxer Con Sheehan has landed a coup of his own.
The Clonmel man has confirmed that he'll fight on the undercard of Tyson Fury's World heavyweight title rematch with Wladimir Klitschko on October 29th.
Six-time national amateur champion Sheehan won his professional debut at Club Nokia, LA, in January of this year before officially teaming up with World heavyweight champion Fury and co. in August. He has since signed with Matthew Macklin's MGM Marbella, and today announced he'll fight on one of the biggest boxing cards this year when Fury seeks to defend his title.
The 27-year-old Sheehan is the youngest amateur heavyweight champion in Irish boxing history, and has been tipped for big things by fans and Irish boxing scribes alike.
His appearance on Fury-Klitschko II will arrive amidst an incredibly busy period for the Tipp heavy, as he fights in England twice in as many weekends later this month before an Irish homecoming on Belfast in November.
