It went a little bit under the radar in Ireland that Patrick Hyland was taking on Gary Russell Jr for the WBC featherweight title is Connecticut last night.
32-year-old Hyland has been based in the US for the last number of years.
On Saturday night, unfortunately, the Irishman was no match for his American opponent. The fight lasted just two rounds.
In the second round, Russell twice dropped the Dubliner to the canvas.
On the second occasion, with 1:33 elapsed in the round, the referee stepped in to stop the fight.
