He may have been somewhat disparaging about MMA in the past but as we all know, Floyd Mayweather follows the money and it seems he has spied an opportunity to expand his business empire. Yes that's right, 'Money' wants a slice of the ever expanding MMA pie.
Not only is his interest in moving into MMA interesting in itself but his rationale behind the move is also quite revealing. For it seems, Floyd is doing it in an effort to get MMA fighters in the Mayweather Promotions stable and help improve the kind of purse which they're receiving.
I want a lot of MMA fighters to get in touch with you because Mayweather Promotions, I look forward to putting on my first MMA show also and having me some MMA champions.
Like I said before, Floyd Mayweather loves to think outside the box. We're not just one-dimensional. We're very versatile and we have an open mind.
When I get into the MMA game, I want them to make more money than they're making because from what I hear, they're not being treated fair. Once again, I don't have nothing to say about nobody. I'm only talking about what I'm here to do. I'm here to treat fighters fair, I'm here to treat MMA fighters fair and I feel that the talent should win.
To be fair to Mayweather, considering the fact that he earned $105 million from his fights alone last year, he is probably not the worst man to have in your corner when it comes to discussing a fighter's purse. Whether he can have that kind of effect on the MMA world remains to be seen.
