Floyd Mayweather really wants you to think he is not taking Conor McGregor seriously.
The duo meet next weekend in Las Vegas, but Mayweather is taking an unusual step in his preparation for the fight. Instead of completing the pre-fight media and promotional duties with the minimum of fuss, the 49-0 fighter is going out of his way to meet fans.
The 40-year-old owns a 'Genteman's Club' called Girl Collection, just off the Las Vegas Strip, and he has invited fans to party with him every night up to and including the fight.
While "partying" for Mayweather is still pretty tame (he doesn't drink or smoke), it's still a sign of how easy he wants the public to think he is taking the fight.
With a 50-0 record at stake, Mayweather would be idiotic in taking McGregor for granted, but he wants to show an air of calm in his camp.
On the other hand, McGregor seems to be quietly preparing in recent days in Las Vegas without any fuss and publicity.
Will Mayweather regret his decision? It remains to be seen.
