Chris Eubank Jr has wasted no time in making his thoughts on the predicament concerning Billy Joe Saunders perfectly clear.
Vacating his WBO middleweight belt, Saunders recently failed a Voluntary Drugs Test after an illegal substance was flagged ahead of a proposed title defence against Demetrius Andrad in Boston.
Although it had initially appeared that Saunders would likely be allowed to compete, the Massachusetts Athletic Commission rejected Saunders’ application for a fight licence in light of the results.
Frank Warren, Billy Joe Saunders' promoter, has informed talkSPORT that he intends to take his case to the Supreme Court to sue for a loss of income. It had been expected that Saunders would receive a multi-million purse for the bout.
However, none of this has stopped Chris Eubank Jr weighing in on proceedings.
Taking to Twitter, Eubank Jr directed a pointed question at the former WBO middleweight champion; "So Billy Joe Saunders, how long have you been taking illegal substances for son?"
Finding the irony in Saunders' condemnation of the decision to allow Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez to fight Gennady Golovkin so soon after failing a drugs test himself, Eubank Jr encouraged his fellow Englishman to "enjoy your time out," and assured him his belt would soon find its way to "more deserving hands."
Chris Eubank Jr and Billy Joe Saunders do have some previous.
A little under four years ago, the pair met for a bout in London. With his British, European and Commonwealth middleweight belts on the line, Saunders retained his titles with a split decision on points.
The 19th fight of Eubank Jr's professional career, it was the first bout he lost. Whereas Saunders went on from there to fight Ireland's Andy Lee shortly thereafter and claim the WBO crown, Eubank Jr has yet to deliver on his promise in the realest sense.
Having recently made it to the semi-final of the World Boxing Super Series event, Eubank Jr was convincingly beaten by George Groves.
