Katie Taylor described it as "a huge night for women's boxing." With the right backing from Eddie Hearn, Matchroom and the monstrous promotional tool that is Sky Sports, she could be proved right in the next 18 months or so.
Of course, we're used to Taylor's in-ring expertise and penchant for heroics in these parts, but to many British fight fans and casual Sky Sports viewers, and indeed some British fighters, this was new territory; a woman boxing professionally on prime time tv.
Eddie Hearn correctly stated that it doesn't matter whether it's men's or women's boxing - it's just boxing - and as boxing debuts go, Taylor's cool and calculated stoppage of Pole Karina Kopinska was a pitch-perfect bow in front of a new audience.
The reaction from across the Irish Sea was suitably excited:
Not a fan of women's boxing.... But this Katie Taylor is 👌🏽
