Three-weight world champion and future boxing Hall-of-Famer 'Sugar' Shane Mosley has been hailed a hero after responding to a four-car collision on California's 405 freeway, and saving a baby.
The former pound-for-pound number one and his girlfriend stopped when they saw the pile-up on the interstate highway and found the infant injured in his car seat with nobody around to help.
The father of the baby who was driving the car was so out of it he couldn't unlock the door to get to the baby. The baby was crying and bleeding - his neck was bruised,
Mosley said.
Mosley and his girlfriend called emergency services but got the baby out of the car and held him as they waited for paramedics to arrive.
They grabbed the baby bag from the car and followed the ambulance to the hospital, staying until the baby's mother arrived. Thankfully, both the baby and his father survived the accident.

The former champ also took to Twitter to provide an update and thank people for their support.
Thank you for the kind story @brittneytv and @CBSLA I did what any good Samaritan would do when they see an emergency. Thankful they are ok.

The baby & the dad are ok! We're really happy. Turns out his wife is 7 months pregnant. So it's a real gift he & the baby in the car are ok

The story is perhaps even more poignant when you consider 'Sugar' Shane lost his nephew to a car accident almost 28 years ago to the day.
Aged 16, Mosley himself was driving the car and didn't realise a nail on the road had punctured his rear tire, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and flip down a hill after a slow leak. His nephew, Diamond, aged just 3, was tragically killed.
Mosley (49-9-1, 41 KO) returns to the ring on May 28 to face David Avanesyan for the interim WBA welterweight title, and has provided all of the family with tickets.
