Billy Walsh left Ireland in October 2015 to join USA Boxing in Colorado.
The Wexford native was originally named as the Women's National Team Coach and since then he has shown his worth to the team, with an excellent showing in last summer's Olympic Games.
Walsh is living in Colarado, where USA Boxing is located. Colorado is not famous for a large Irish diaspora, but Billy Walsh has struck an unlikely friendship with a fellow Wexford man.
In an interview in today's Sunday Times with Michael Foley, Walsh revealed he ended up becoming very friendly with Republic of Ireland international Kevin Doyle.
He visits Kevin Doyle and watches him playing with the Colorado Rapids. There's an Irish bar where they watch GAA matches, shooting the breeze like at home.
"I didn't actually meet him till I came here but his wife was a barmaid in my local bar when she was studying graphic design. Small world. Now we live an hour away from each other."
It's a long way from Wexford to Colorado, but at least there is still a little corner of the sunny south-east in the Rockies.
At least we know Billy and Kevin will have their eyes on Croke Park, despite the early start for the duo today.
