A fierce 7th round Anthony Joshua TKO ended the challenge of Alexander Povetkin in tonight's heavyweight bout in Wembley Stadium.
Joshua's first fight in London since defeating Vladimir Klitschko there in 2017, tonight's Russian opponent was thought to potentially cause the British fighter some problems.
With an impressive professional record that consisted of only a solitary defeat to Klitschko in 2013, the 39-year-old Povetkin certainly looked to be challenging the younger, bigger Joshua for the opening half of the fight.
Previously convicted for his doping offences, many had felt it would be something of an aberration had the Russian fighter claimed the win on the night.
Such concerns were put to bed however as Joshua moved in on his first chance to end Povetkin's challenge in the 7th. Knocking the Russian initially, Povetkin made it up within the count, but not for too long.
A win that will now pave the way for further speculation regarding a potential unification bout for the heavyweight belts, news that Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury are set to fight on December 1 will be of intense interest to Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn alike.
Already in possession of the WBO, WBA and IBF heavyweight belts, that fight between Wilder and Fury will determine whether or not the American Wilder remains in possession of his WBC belt, and who Joshua will potentially have to overcome should he seek to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis.
