It appears to be the fight to make, as Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor have made it back-to-back wins in back-to-back weekends.
Saturday night was the turn of the Puerto Rican and she delivered with a comfortable unanimous decision win over Miriam Gutierrez.
Serrano has amassed an impressive professional boxing record to date. She has 42 wins in 44 fights, with her sole loss coming back in 2012.
Now, she's setting her sights on the 'money fight' with Katie Taylor. Serrano's move to lightweight for the bout on Saturday may be a sign of things to come.
"I wanted to be a complete fighter. If the knockout comes, if it came it would have came. I just wanted to beat her," Serrano said in her post-fight presser.
It wasn't long before the reporters started namedropping Taylor and Serrano was more than happy to admit that it'll be her next fight.
Amanda Serrano's Sights Set
"It is the mega fight for women's boxing," Serrano said. "You have pound-for-pound top 3, however, you look at it. That's two pound-for-pound girls going out there."
You have undisputed, seven division world champions going in facing each other. I think that's the mega fight for women. I think we're gonna blow off those ceilings for women's boxing. Seven-figure payday for both of us. Madison Square Garden. The Big Theatre. Main Event. It's going to be an amazing night.
When will it take place? There has been talk about the fight happening in the Springtime but no date has been set in stone yet.
Serrano's representative remained coy about negotiations:
I would say the timeline is Amanda and Jordan need to sit down together and figure out what's the right timeline for them. And then we'll continue discussions with Eddie and Matchroom and come to a date.
The Serrano vs Gutierrez fight was part of the Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley undercard and aired on Showtime, which will have to be worked out with Matchroom's partner DAZN.
Whatever happens, Serrano has done her best in the aftermath to campaign for it. She even called 'Katie is next' in the hallways after the win.
"I'm super excited to share the ring with Katie Taylor. She's a helluva fighter and a great champion. It's just great for women's boxing."
